The APPTI Next-Generation Pulping Team is sponsoring a workshop to review and update the research needs and priority focus from our Next Generation Pulping Roadmap.
In this workshop, you will learn about the R&D Needs and Project Topics identified in our 2016 Roadmap and the actual projects that we’ve undertaken in each area to address those needs.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to help the team think through the R&D Needs previously identified and whether these are still the top priorities, that translate into the primary Project Topics, or whether changes in technology or industry challenges would necessitate changes to either the R&D Needs or Project Topics previously identified.

Further, we’ll spend time brainstorming potential new Project Topics that could potentially address the R&D Needs and form the basis for future RFPs that will be circulated to the research community. As examples of potential new Project Topics, we will consider things like general optimization opportunities where collaborative efforts could benefit the operations in multiple plants or where we could close the gap between best available technology and currently installed technology without major capital investment.

The output of this workshop will be also used in subsequent sessions with governmental and granting agencies to inform key stakeholders of the fundamental technological developments needed to reduce energy and CO2 emissions and advance the circular bioeconomy.
Why Attend:
  • Meet members of the pulping community including potential partners and collaborators.
  • Learn about progress on projects undertaken to address R&D needs identified previously.
  • Help define the basis for future RFPs to address key needs in pulping and chemical recovery, including the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Workshop Goals and Outcomes:
  • Facilitate forming new collaborative relationships through information and networking sessions.
  • Develop an in-depth, prioritized list of research needs and potential project areas.
  • Inform industrial and government funding groups in the development of funding Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Use the workshop deliverables and report as the basis for a subsequent Information session for funding agencies
Registration is required to attend the workshop.
