​APPTI is pleased to offer this new webinar series to share research updates on the multi-year, multi-phase research collaboration between Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the University of Maine.  APPTI has partnered with ORNL to help promote the new learnings and opportunities resulting from this collaboration.
​This three-part webinar series will provide a look into the ongoing research in the sustainable biocomposite manufacturing research.  
One Webinar – Four Presentations
Each 90-minute webinar will feature three short presentations representing work done in one of the following research areas: 
  • Research Area #1 - Energy reduction in Cellulose Nano-fibril (CNF) production
  • Research Area #2 - Improved distribution of CNF in composites
  • Research Area #3 - Improved performance of CNF-based composite
​Plus, each webinar will feature an industry collaborator to share a Case Study.  These case studies will highlight how industry is leveraging the Hub and Spoke program to launch new technologies and projects.

About the Pilot Hub & Spoke Program with ORNL and the University of Maine
The sustainable biocomposite manufacturing research program will enable high stream utilization of forest products & cellulose fibrils to develop renewable, low cost, energy-efficient biofeedstocks for large-scale additive manufacturing and other composite applications.
The Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at ORNL and the University of Maine (UMaine) are collaborating with industrial partners to scale-up R&D in biocomposites and high throughput manufacturing using a Hub and Spoke Model.  This model enables industrial partners to access ORNL and UMaine assets and expertise to bring new, sustainable and functional composite products to the market.
